BT3100 Tips

Back to the BT3100 Index page

This is a page of tips, recommendations, or suggestions regarding the use of the Ryobi BT3100 tablesaw.
  1. ALWAYS work safely. If some particular method seems less than safe, find another way to perform the operation.

  2. Learn how to align the machine properly. Any machine that is not properly aligned will not perform very well.

  3. To keep it in good working order, perform the periodic maintenance listed in the owners manual.

  4. Sand and then wax or otherwise treat the table surfaces to prevent marking the stock.

  5. Ensure the saw is plugged into a good electrical circuit and do not starve it by using a thin gauge extension cord. It would be best not to use an extension cord at all if possible.

  6. Wax the front rip fence rail and SMT guide for smother movement.

  7. Use a quality thin kerf blade to reduce the load on the motor and lessen the likelihood of a stall (and potential drive belt failure).  You can use smaller diameter blades (eg: 7.25") with good results, this further decreases motor load.

  8. Replace the throat plate with a zero clearance type. This will make the machine safer to operate and reduce the frequency of clogs in the DC port.

  9. Learn how to align the machine properly. Any machine that is not properly aligned will not perform very well - did I say this already?
